Notice to Teams: Memoranda and Changes to Oral Rounds Schedule
All of the teams’ Memoranda are now available on the website under 'Problem and Memoranda'.
However, we regret to inform you that we are in the process or redrawing the schedule for the oral rounds because a team has withdrawn from the competition in the last few days. The new schedule will be posted as soon as possible. We have made every possible effort to minimise the changes, but those teams who were due to meet the withdrawn team will have their fixtures changed, and it has been necessary to change some hearing times also.
We apologise for this disruption but it is unfortunately beyond our control. On a brighter note, we look forward to welcoming teams to Brisbane in a week’s time.

The International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot Competition is a competition for law students, either undergraduate or postgraduate. Students from all countries are eligible. The moot problem typically involves a commercial shipping dispute which is to be determined by an arbitral panel according to the LMAA Terms (2006) or other Rules from time to time. The problem is designed to incorporate difficult but practical issues of arbitration law as well as issues of substantive maritime law.
The Problem is distributed in early December. It is distributed by posting on the Moot web site. Teams prepare a memorandum for both the Claimant and Respondent. The oral arguments will usually take place in Australia in the last week of June or first week of July. Occasionally the moot will be held outside Australia.
The general rounds of the oral arguments take place at the Law Faculty of the host University on Saturday through Monday. The quarter-final is held on Monday, the semi- final rounds are held on Tuesday and the final takes place on Tuesday evening and is followed by the Awards function.
The 2009 International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot Competition will be organised and hosted by Murdoch University School of Law. The host of the 2009 Moot is the TC Beirne School of Law, University of Queensland.
Registration
Registration is accomplished by completion and submission of the registration form. Registration is confirmed by payment of the registration fee of AUD$750. The registration fee must be paid prior to the date for submission of the memorandum for claimant, unless specific permission for later payment has been given by the Moot Director.
