Annual Alumni Function 2009 & Launch of the Australian Journal of Gender and Law

Annual Alumni Function 2009 and Launch of the Australian Journal of Gender and Law

The School of Law held its Annual Alumni Function on Friday, 25 September. Although it was the start of a long weekend, approximately 50 people attended the Function. One of the purposes of the Function was to highlight the importance of the School's four law journals in the education of our students. The School publishes the Murdoch eLaw Journal, the Australian and New Zealand Maritime Law Journal, the International Trade and Business Law Review and Sister in Law, which was relaunched as the Australian Journal of Gender and Law.

The Dean of Law, Professor Gabriël Moens welcomed the guests, especially Associate Professor Beverley Thiele, President of the Academic Board, who launched the Australian Journal of Gender and Law. Dr Kate Lewins, Chief Editor of the Australian and New Zealand Maritime Law Journal, and Mr Bruce Bott, Chief Editor of the Murdoch eLaw Journal, spoke briefly about their law journals. Ms Sonia Walker introduced our guests to the Australian Journal of Gender and Law and introduced the President of the Academic Board. The event also provided participants with the opportunity to network. A few pictures taken at the event accompany this note.
