GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN AUSTRALIAN MIGRATION LAW AND PRACTICE
The first cohort of students in the Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice had their final class on Sunday, 19 November 2006.

This was the end of the third unit in the one week intensive units for the course. The first unit, Australian Migration Law, was taught by Vanessa Moss, the second unit, Australian Visa System, was taught by Adjunct Professor George Fox, and Mary Anne Kenny taught the third unit , Migration Law in Practice. Law librarian Anne Greenshields gave invaluable assistance in refreshing the students' research and database skills. The feedback on the course and the teaching was very positive.

The students came from a mixture of backgrounds, including from Iran, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Korea, China, Indonesia, the Phillipines, India, South Africa and Russia. They represent a range of professions, having previously worked as accountants, bankers, community workers, teachers, lawyers and public servants.

The student cohort quickly became very close -knit, with some groups considering going into practice together as Registered Migration Agents. At the conclusion of their last session together, the class celebrated their achievements with an impromptu party. The Law School wishes them every success in their new careers in the migration profession.
