On Thursday, 2 April 2009 SCALES and Murdoch Law School organised a Debate on Is there a Need for a Bill of Rights? The participants in the debate were the Honourable Christian Porter, MLA, Attorney-General of Western Australia, and the Honourable Jim McGinty, MLA and former Attorney-General of Western Australia. The Debate was capably moderator by Lisa Baker. Approximately 100 people came to listen to the Debate. The presentations by the debaters were followed by a lively and civilised discussion which generated some excellent questions and comments. Melissa Parke, Federal Member for Fremantle and Margaret Quirk, Member for Girrawheen also attended the Debate as well as a few former SCALES and Law School students.
