Dr. Ken Shao speaks at China’s highest-level Intellectual Property Summit, and is appointed Adjunct Professor by Zhongnan University

Dr. Ken Shao was invited by Professor Wu Handong, Director of China’s Intellectual Property Institute and Vice Chancellor of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, to give a speech at China’s highest-level IP Summit Conference (9-10 May 2009) in Guangzhou, China. Over 200 people from 12 countries attended the Conference.

Dr. Shao’s topic was “China’s Intellectual Property Strategies under the Global Financial Crisis”. He was the only speaker who, by drawing lessons from the current global recession, warned China that careful measures must be employed to offset the side effects of economic globalization in IP sectors.

Dr. Shao was able to help the Conference to invite two global leading experts of intellectual property, Australian Professor Peter Drahos from ANU and UK Professor Graham Dutfield from Leeds, to speak at the Conference.

Dr. Shao, as well as Professor Drahos and Professor Dutfield, were appointed Adjunct Professors by Professor Wu Handong on behalf of Zhongnan University IP Centre, the only key IP research base supported by China’s Ministry of Education. A seminar was given to the law students at Zhongnan University after the Conference.
