New Law Elective in 2006: Moot Court Bench

Applications are still open for Moot Court Bench, an exciting new Law elective unit commencing in 2006. This unit provides opportunities to gain a broad base of practical legal skills in an interactive and supportive environment. The unit will be presided over by an Academic Mentor Dr Vernon Nase, newly appointed as Senior Lecturer in the School of Law, along with Professor Gabriël Moens and Ms Kate Lewins.

The Moot Court Bench will consist of a Chief Justice, an Executive Justice and ten Associate Justices. Moot Court Bench is a great opportunity to be involved in a range of mooting activities, including coaching, judging and organising moot competitions, preparing and editing moot problems, helping to develop a Judges in Residence program and producing Murdoch's first Mooting Manual - all whilst honing your advocacy skills and making useful contacts within the profession.

The unit is worth 4 credit points and runs across the full year. There will be two intakes each year, one in first semester and one in second semester. Time commitments will vary according to the tasks allocated to each Moot Court Bench Justice. Application forms can be obtained here and should be submitted to the Law School Office as soon as possible.
