Murdoch University School of Law: Challenges and Opportunities

 

Murdoch Law School held its annual Retreat on Friday, 5 September 2008 in Bluewater Grill, Applecross. The Dean of Law, Professor Gabriel Moens, presented a paper on Murdoch Law School: Challenges and Opportunities. Mr Graeme Geldart, Executive Director of the Legal Practice Board gave an overview of Continuing Professional Development for the Legal Profession of Western Australia. Professor Jim Reynoldson, DVC (Research) discussed University policies with regard to research, especially as they relate to the School of Law. Mr Ian Callahan, DVC (Corporate) and Ms Julie Keene, Director Financial Services and CFO discussed the RIAS Project (Recognising and Investing in Areas of Strength). During the afternoon, staff discussed various developments in the Law School, including library news, Moot Court Bench, China Knowledge, SCALES, Ranking of law journals, the Workload Management System and APIPLI. Finally, Mr Christopher Doepel, Faculty Dean, Law & Business reviewed recent developments in the Faculty. The event was attended by all academic and general staff. It was a successful and informative event, which was enjoyed by all.
