Western Australian Institute of Dispute Management (WAIDM) Launched

The Honourable Justice Christopher David Steytler, President of the Court of Appeal officially launched the Western Australian Institute of Dispute Management (WAIDM) on Thursday, 28 September 2006 during a function at Murdoch Law School .

Among the guests were dispute resolution professionals from the United Kingdom , France and Singapore . The Launch was preceded by a Seminar on International Commercial Arbitration. Professor Michael Pryles and Professor Doug Jones, respectively President and Vice-President of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) addressed recent developments in international commercial arbitration and the new ACICA Rules.

WAIDM was established on 25 January 2006 for the purpose of conducting training in the fields of arbitration and mediation and fostering research in alternative dispute resolution. As an arbitration institute, it conducts arbitrations and mediations for the legal and business communities.
