RESTRAINING ORDER RESEARCH
The SCALES research, made possible by a research grant from Lotterywest and conducted by Murdoch University’s Centre for Social and Community Research, was set up to investigate the role that socio-economic and familial factors play in the pursuit of final Violence Restraining Orders by women subjected to family and domestic violence.
The research was conducted over a two and a half year period and involved interviews with both industry professionals and the major participant group of women who have experienced family and domestic violence, the majority of whom resided in the Rockingham/Kwinana areas.
The research and the preparation of the Research Report were completed by mid 2007 and the Report launched on 6 August 2007.
