Ms Michelle Evans

Senior Lecturer
BA, LLB, LLM (Research)

Michelle Evans joined the Murdoch School of Law on 1 July 2009. She is a graduate of Murdoch University where she completed a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws by Research. Before commencing her academic career, Michelle practiced primarily in the areas of commercial property law and general commercial law.

Michelle has joined Murdoch from the School of Law at the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle where she was a Senior Lecturer and the Assistant Dean of Law. Her role as Assistant Dean involved assisting in the strategic planning, organisation and marketing of the School, and advising the Dean on academic, staffing and other managerial matters as part of the School of Law Executive.

In the six and a half years that Michelle was at Notre Dame she course co-ordinated and lectured in many law subjects including Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Commercial Law and Contract Law. From 2003 to 2005 Michelle was also the co-ordinator of the Practical Skills Seminars for Property Law. She assisted with the co-ordination of the Law and Social Justice and Integrated Legal Research II units as part of her role as the joint co-ordinator of the Juris Doctor Programme in 2003. She has been a guest lecturer on the subject of Property Law in the Curtin University Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

Michelle received Letters of Commendation from the Provost and Vice Chancellor of Notre Dame for teaching excellence in Semester 2, 2005, Semester 1 and 2, 2006, Semester 1 and 2, 2007 (she was on maternity leave in 2008). She was the Notre Dame School of Law’s Nominee for the Carrick Institute Awards for Teaching Excellence in 2007. Michelle served on several Committees whilst at Notre Dame including chairing the School of Law Marketing Committee and the John H O’Halloran Law Scholarship Committee. She also served as a committee member of the Teaching and Learning Committee.

Michelle is the Secretary of Helping Bali Kids Inc, a not for profit licensed charity based in Western Australia, established to provide both financial and educational support to two orphanages in Bali.
