An experienced and dedicated legal practitioner, Maria Saraceni specialises in the areas of workplace relations and occupational safety and health. The scope of her practice involves advising employers on all aspects of workplace relations including recruitment strategies, terms and conditions of employment, employment regulations, policies, business acquisitions, restructuring and transmission of business, employment terminations and union negotiation. She defends claims on behalf of employers including unlawful termination, unlawful discrimination, unfair dismissal and breach of contract.
Maria’s approach to workplace relations aims to provide her clients with the best possible solution that will address not only their legal obligations but commercial issues too. Responsive, practical, succinct and always personable, Maria believes that pro-active management of risk is the most effective path to tangible and long-lasting results.
Her experience advising employers of their occupational safety and health obligations and liability is substantial and includes drafting policies, compliance audits, critical incident investigations, as well as defending Work Safe prosecutions, challenging Work Safe notices and representing employers in coronial investigations. She has given many management briefings, workshops and seminars on the subjects of both workplace relations and safety.
A highly respected member of the legal profession, Maria is current President of the Law Society of WA and a director of Law Council of Australia.
