Su Lloyd

Su Lloyd was appointed Adjunct Professor at the School of Law, Murdoch University in May 2006. She is a member of the Western Australian Institute of Dispute Management (“WAIDM”) Advisory Board and, in October 2006, was honoured as an inaugural Fellow of WAIDM.
She joined WorkCover WA as Director of the Dispute Resolution Directorate in March 2007, following 4 years as the principal of a successful legal and mediation practice.
Su has extensive experience in senior public sector roles, and a diverse legal background, practising primarily in employment, equal opportunity and administrative law. She has also served as a senior Ministerial adviser.
Su is an experienced mediator and negotiator, an accredited mediator with the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators (IAMA), and an accredited dispute resolver under the Workplace Relations Act 1996. She also delivers IAMA’s national mediation course in Perth. Su has undertaken advanced mediation training at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva.
A committee member of the Association for Research between Italy and Australasia and the Advisory Board of the (WAIDM) and recently appointed as an inaugural Fellow of WAIDM, Su’s research interests include intellectual property mediation, co-mediation and international best practice in dispute resolution.
Recent publications include “Capturing Scientific Creativity – The Role of Mediation in Intellectual Property Disputes”, co-authored with Dr Joseph Patroni,and published in the Bollettina della comunita Scientifica in Australasia in December 2007.
Su taught the Employment Law elective unit at Murdoch in 2006 and 2007, and maintains a keen interest in advanced pedagogical methods, particular those engaging students in action learning.
At WorkCover, Su has established a vision for a best practice dispute resolution service, and has embarked upon a programme of positive engagement with stakeholders, system and process improvement, and more effective use of technology.
