Mr Steve Shaw

Stephen Shaw received a BA in Sociology and an LLB (Hons) from Murdoch University. He practiced with Dwyer Durack, mostly in the area of commercial litigation, until returning to the Murdoch School of Law in 2004. He coordinates and teaches Evidence, and does some teaching in Contract. He also acts as a mentor for Indigenous students and runs the Koora Kudidj Pre Law Program.
Stephen’s special area of interest is Legal Costs. He is currently doing a Masters of Law (Research) in the area, looking specifically at the differences between the Western Australian and New South Wales regimes. He acts as a consultant in the area of costs for Dwyer Durack.
His other legal interests include immigration law, and he does volunteer work for CASE, an organisation that provides assistance to refugees.

Stephen has been involved in teaching at Murdoch since 1998, when he commenced as a tutor in Contract. Until joining the University full time in 2004, he acted as a tutor in Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Law Justice Social Policy, Australian Legal Systems, and Research and Writing.
Since 2004 he has coordinated the Business Associations Law course and given guest lectures in Civil Procedure, Law Justice Social Policy, and University to Workplace.
Research interests Legal Costs, Evidence, and Contract.
